HKU Korean film screening nights

As part of the 6th Festival Korea(韓國十月文化節), the Korean Studies Programme at HKU with the generous support of the Consulate General of the Republic of Korea in Hong Kong cordially invites you to two Korean movie screenings.

How To Steal A Dog(개를 훔치는 완벽한 방법)

How to Steal a Dog is a 2014 South Korean film directed by Kim Sung-ho, based on the novel of the same name by Barbara O'Connor.

Synopsis: A young girl’s (Lee Re) father goes bankrupt. The girl's family loses their house and they don't have a place to live. One day, the girl sees a flyer offering a reward of $500 for a missing dog. The young girl then sets out to "borrow" dogs from wealthy families to obtain reward money.

A Hard Day(끝까지 간다)

A Hard Day is a 2014 South Korean crime action thriller film written and directed by Kim Seong-hun, and starring Lee Sun-kyun and Cho Jin-woong. It was selected to compete in the Directors' Fortnight section of the 2014 Cannes Film Festival.

Synopsis: Detective Gun-Soo (Lee Sun-Kyun) skips his mother-in-law's funeral to attend to a crisis at the police station. While driving to the station a man appears out of nowhere and Detective Gun-Soo crashes into him with his car. The man is dead and Detective Gun-Soo panics. He drags the dead man to his car and throws him into his car trunk. Detective Gun-Soo's hard day is just beginning.
