Before arriving HKU in 2015, Ms Youngkyoung Paik taught at the Department of Korean Studies in Eberhard Karls University of Tuebingen, Germany. She also worked as an Assistant Lecturer at the Chinese University of Hong Kong for the summer intensive course in 2014. In Korea, Ms Paik taught various courses including Korean for academic curriculum and courses for exchange students at the Korean Language Education Center in Sogang University. Additionally, she had teaching experiences in Chile and Switzerland. Her teaching and research interests include pragmatics, third language acquisition, and inter-language between Korean and Cantonese.
